Taking real action
It’s all about looking at things from a different perspective, right? I’m sure that is the reason why I love this idea from Gym-Pact, and not because I need a better incentive to use my gym membership than merely getting fit (what did that ever achieve?).
Gym-Pact turns the idea of a gym membership that plods along charging you every week no matter whether you use it or not, completely on its head. Use your membership an agreed number of times a week and you get discounts. Don’t use your membership enough and you get penalised, with penalties starting from $10 a day.
Now I’m sure you won’t be seeing Fitness “Finance” First jumping on this business model anytime soon (and as much as it pains me to say it, I don’t think they should have to) but is this an option for the government to implement to encourage healthy lifestyles?
So often in our business we receive briefs for business problems that would be much more effectively addressed by new initiatives, rather than ad campaigns and this is a perfect example of how the answers aren’t always what you expect. I just wish that clients/governments would have the conviction to make real changes, rather than simply the superficial.
